Word of God pt I

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” -2 tim 3:16

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God…” How much does it say? Some? No. Just the new testament? No. Just the epistles and Revelation? No. All scripture was given by “inspiration.” Not only that, it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction for instruction in righteousness.  I ask again, is this claim relegated to the NT, epistles, and Revelation? I think not for all still means all. All scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, is to be used by all followers of Christ to establish doctrine, to reprove sin, to correct behavior, and to instruct believers onto the path of right doing.  This according to Paul will make us “wise unto salvation” 2 tim 3:15.

What will you do? Will you follow the whole council of God? I bid you to do just that and to “lean not on your own understanding” but “in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Prov 3:5-6

The Word of God pt II

In the last post, we discussed 2 timothy 3:16, 17.  We learned that “all scripture is given by inspiration of God” and is able to make us “wise unto salvation.”  For no other reason was scripture given to us but to save us.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

In scripture you have the divine and the human mingled together and by this means did God purpose to reveal His will. Such union also existed in  Christ, “And the angel answered and said unto her (Mary), The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us”  Luke 1:35,  John 1:1,14. Jesus is a living epistle. He is the Word of God–God’s thoughts made audible.
